FIFA Soccer 08 improves a lot of features that could have been better in the other FIFA games. It gives you more choices on what YOU want to do and also teaches you how to play some nice soccer.

Game-play:
The game-play is how I expected it to be, it is like any realistic soccer game that you would be watching on TV. You get to play as your favourite teams and players. You pass the ball to your team mates; tackle the opposition in order to get the ball, take shots at goals along with many other things. You can also team up with your friends and take on an opposition team, or you can play against them in a fierce game. The running speeds and tricks that they perform are realistic.
A new mode was added, this makes game-play a little more interesting to say the least. Be a Pro, lets you team up with other players and pick your own player each. You are that player for the whole game. Not only must you work with the other user players, you need to work with your other team mates on your team. You also don't have to be in a team with a group of friends, it can just be yourself with your team. The point that I am trying to make is that you are your own man.
For PS2 and some other consoles you can compete online with other players in other modes too.
Controls:
I must mention that the controls are nearly much the same as the other FIFA Soccer games. For a first time, it lets you control the goalkeeper with the R3 button. This can be especially helpful if your players cannot tackle a particular player. One of the bad points that I have noticed is that it is harder to do some of the good tricks that are useful. As players get more experienced in the game they will learn to master all of the difficult tricks.
The controls are a little easier to control, you get to control how hard you shoot for goal or kick the ball. You get to choose exactly what type of shot/pass/cross you would like to perform, they are easy to execute too. Like in real soccer, it is all about timing when you kick the ball; the controls make it so it takes the usual amount of time as it would in an actual soccer game.
Sound:
Sound is good for this game; you can hear the ball when it is being kicked. You can also hear players calling for the ball as well as the crowd cheering when a goal is scored. You can hear the crowds boo's when I player is treated unfairly. As well as that you can hear the commentators commenting on how your team is playing and telling you what is happening in the game. You hear most things that you would hear if you were playing.
Graphics: The graphics for this game have improved a little bit. They make the game look nearly realistic. Of course you can tell it's a game, but you can tell what I mean. The game runs smoothly, there aren't any glitches that stuff up the graphics at all. All passes and kicks look really good, the players have the appearances of the players that they are meant to be. You can also create your own players and teams and make them look how you want them to look. The graphics in my opinion are very good.
Closing:
Overall I recommend this game to all FIFA fans. It includes many new teams and leagues to play with/in. I personally enjoyed playing as Adelaide United, my favourite Australian team. I hope you enjoyed my review.
