Overview
The latest installment in the Total War series, famous for Medieval: Total War, Rome: Total War is one of the most popular real-time strategy (RTS) games on the market today. With plenty of action and a wide variety of tactics available, it's sure to keep players enticed for many hours at a time. Whether you are new to the Total War series, or a hardcore veteran, expect to get hooked. When you play Rome, you can expect to find an almost completely historical campaign mode, with kingdoms from real Roman history. Once you beat the Roman faction, continue to keep your adrenaline running as you unlock other factions as well.
Gameplay
The Total War series is known for its in-depth gameplay, while Rome is no different. When playing in campaign mode, you will notice there are two parts: The World Map, where you work with your cities, move your armies, and are in complete control, and the Battle Map, in which you will fight your battles. If you prefer running and controlling your country instead of doing the actual fighting, you can simulate your battles and continue with your domination. But where's the fun in that? This game stays true to its roots, and creates a realistic and enjoyable gameplay that's sure to keep you stuck to your seat.
Graphics
Be prepared to have a pretty decent PC if you plan to run this game to it's full potential, and with all it has to offer, you'll want to. You can have thousands of warriors eager to fight for you on one map, and be able to make out every one of them in good detail and variety, such as your soldiers having different attack, death, and movement animations. Overall, this game is a major step up from the other games in the series, and is welcome to all gamers. Who doesn't think it's nice to sit back and watch the army you created unleash its might on your enemies?
Audio
A very distinguishable trait of this game is its music and audio; the game has such extremely good sounds, that you'll be able to hear every battle chant, every arrow shot, and every slash with a sword parried throughout the game, only adding to the sense of already being there. In comparison to other battle games, the music and audio is very original and enjoyable. With audio often being overlooked nowadays, Rome seems to get it almost in perfection.
Overall
If you are a fan of RTS style games, this is a must-have. If you are new to the genre or haven't tried, it is a good idea to give this game a try.
