Introduction
Burnout Revenge is one of the newest in the series where you crash for money and race aggressively in different places around the world and the online play means you can go head to head against the world once finishing off the single-player.
Graphics
The graphics are some of the best out on the Xbox 360 with the most detailed crashes. Even the paintwork chips off realistically. When you crash there is immense detail and the indents are very realistic no mater what. The cars are very detailed themselves which look very neatly rounded off and very cool.
The levels are quite detailed and are a step up from the PS2 version. It really makes you feel immersed and in the game as it has scenery for miles. The props and pedestrian cars also look very good and no exceptions from the racers damage graphics as when you hit a car it looks absolutely battered.
Sound
One of the best bits about the game is the music and it is great. There's a lot of head rocking tunes to listen to which feels good, sounds good and really suits the game genre of wrecking stuff. The sound effects sound very real and are perfect for all the car grinding that goes on in the game.
Gameplay
The single-player consists of different races sorted out in ranks depending on their difficult and have a ranking where the better you do, the more stars you get towards the next rank. The higher the ranks, the harder it is and some it is very hard, especially when you're trying to perfect it.
The cars steer quite well and have only a few attributes on show. They steer very well and the drifting mechanics work very smoothly. They could actually rival Ridge Racer as its quite easy to use and once you're in, its controllable and feels quite satisfactory unlike games like Outrun 2 as even though the drifting is easy, there's no satisfaction from simple samey mechanics.
When you hit a car, it flies out of the way and crushes anywhere that makes you feel like the king of the road, but then when you're hit by an oncoming car you come crashing to a complete halt that doesn't feel realistic which lets it down.
The Xbox Live part is the best, which allows you to enjoy up to 6-player matches whilst you trash talk your mates. The graphics look just like single-player and the only downside is that half the matches you attempt to get in will say you have a connection problem.
Overall
Ups: The cars look very realistic, the ranking system works well and the Xbox Live is extremely good
Downs: When you hit a car, it soars into the air that isn't very realistic and the Xbox Live is glitchy but a patch should be coming soon.
The game on the whole is very good and can be played for hours with its lengthy single-player mode and Multi-player, which makes it excellent value for your money.
