Interview with the owner of Vooks.net Daniel Vuckovic

1.Firstly when was Vooks.Net Started?

The first iteration of Vooks.Net started in October 2000 and was called "Vooks Gaming Page", In 2001 it adopted the Vooks Gamespage name after the Free URL that it was hosted under. It became Vooks.Net in March 2003.

2. How long did it Take for it to become the sucessfull website it is Today?

Depends, in 2001 getting a URL and 20 or so members was really great, in June 2005 the site traffic increased over 300% percent in a real sudden spike and it has'nt drop back past that since. Every month has seen consistent growth.

3.What's Your Favorite game right now?

At the moment it would have to be New Super Mario Brothers, being the last game that I bought that would be my favourite at the moment, but I am still playing Brain Training and Chibi Robo

4.Is'nt BrainTraining for old people, why are you interested in such a game?

Brain Training is'nt just for old people, it appeals to a wide demographic, While it is'nt a game per-se it is a lot of fun and it is helping me with my memory. Which is'nt that great. To be fair my Dad has played it more then me but I dont mind it he has'nt that much fun with a game since Mario Kart DS.

5.How Old are You?

I am 20.

6.Why did you choose only to cover Nintendo on your website?

Being playing Nintendo games all my life, and thus they have a great place in my heart and in my childhood. I do enjoy PC and Xbox games but no games that arnt Nintendo have had a profound affect on me or given me so much fun.

7.What's Behind the name 'Vooks'

Everyone at school called me Vook even my teachers, while my last name is spelt with Vuck, people called Vook rather the Vuck which sounds like something else. I wanted to choose a name for the site that is timeless, having started in the 2000 the site could of been called Australia Nintendo 64 news or something which would'nt of lasted. The name Vook does'nt apply to anything except myself.

8. Is Vooks.Net a one man thing or do you have a partner in crime?

From 2000 to 2004 Vooks.Net was pretty much Built, Design, Updated, Moderated all by myself. Now that we have a larger user base members have been nice enough to help out, with different people doing different things all over the place. Lots of ex-Australian nintendo site owners now post of Vooks and they ad there expertise to the mix. But even now I still do most of it myself about 60% at least. The site is also fully funded by me,Although I dont mind paying, it gives some where decent for Nintendo Australian fans to hang out and a way to reach Nintendo Australia.

 8. Do you have any hobbies away front the computer?

Yeah definently, apart from gaming and the computer, I like to watch TV like everyone else, big fan of Stargate and getting hooked on my name is earl. Reading is also good, eletronics I like having the lastest of everthing and trying new things out.

9. One last question, just out of curiousity,is there a special lady in your life?

At the moment no.

10. Is there anything else you'd like to include?

Just that we're celebrating our 6th Birthday in October with a new site, and we're the only Australia Nintendo site to still be around since before the Gamecube launch.

11. Give some advice to other person's out there who plan on starting a sucessful website such as yours?

Don't go spamming your site on every message board, no one will visit it if they feel forced. Offer something different, if there is another site out there doing the same thing do it your own way.Make sure you site is friendly and inviting, the internet is  wild place and one day people may call your site "home"

And that concludes our interview with the one and only Daniel Vuckovic the owner and founder of Vooks. Net
