After a long time of speculation Microsoft finally officially announced Halo 3 showing a brief trailer. The trailer starts off with various blurs of cortana on screen flashing in and out as the Master Chief walks on screen holding a battle rifle. Cortana proceeds to babble about knowing about the past present and future as the convenant crusiers and ships fly towards a giant field. The trailer quickly ends flashing End the Fight in 2007.

Marty of Bungie explained that Cortana and the Master Chief are light years away from one another and the transmissions of cortana are going to be used to push the story along. Cortana will play a large role in the third installment of Halo 3 and has become the protagonist.

So you can expect Halo 3 in the year 2007 exclusively on the Xbox 360.
